Expected Schoolwide Learning Results
Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs)

The following Expected Schoolwide Learning Results were adopted during the 1997-98 WASC self-study processes. Each school's staff members and Advisory Committee members review and revise the indicators throughout the year.

1. The Halstrom student is a self-directed learner.
Students participate in the learning process and accept responsibility for learning. Students practice self-evaluation, improvement of assignments, time-management, organizational skills, and study skills.

2. The Halstrom student is a creative problem-solver.
Students can apply complex problem-solving and critical thinking skills to real life scenarios. They apply existing knowledge to resolve problems.

3. The Halstrom student is an effective communicator.
Students apply and understand knowledge in written and verbal communication. They develop and apply reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.

4. The Halstrom student is college/career ready.
Students demonstrate work ethics for a successful college or working career. They develop academic and interpersonal skills, utilizing modern information sources. They can research college, career, and occupational training opportunities.

5. The Halstrom student is a community participant.
Students demonstrate knowledge of various cultures, as well as environmental and political issues and responsibilities. They are involved in the community and recognize their relationship to the world and need for and use of community resources.
