Dr. Karen Glynn Bishop founded Halstrom High School® (formerly Futures High School) in 1985, envisioning a program committed to providing individualized instruction to foster students' academic growth and success. Since opening its first campus 25 years ago in Oceanside, California, Dr. Bishop has grown Halstrom to include three WASC-accredited campuses throughout Southern California, as well as an online school offering one-to-one instruction to students throughout the world.
Dr. Bishop earned an Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction from United States International University (USIU) and an M.A. as a Reading Specialist from Montclair State University in New Jersey. She has California credentials as an Administrator, Reading Specialist, and Secondary English Teacher. She has taught English and reading to students in grades 5-12 and at the post-secondary level.
